A creamy, slightly sweet, dairy-free matcha latte.

This matcha latte recipe is a family favorite, & makes for a great afternoon pick-me-up. Matcha is a concentrated powdered form of green tea. I love it for its delicate flavor and impressive health benefits – it packs in more antioxidants than regular brewed green tea, and has been shown to improve mental clarity, reduce stress, reduce blood pressure, and strengthen the immune system.

In addition to the ingredients listed below, here’s what else you’ll need: a kettle/pot to heat water, a bowl, a bamboo matcha whisk (or a regular small whisk would work just fine).

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons of high quality matcha (I like Jade Leaf Matcha powder)

  • 1/4 teaspoon of real vanilla extract

  • 1 teaspoon of pure maple syrup

  • 2 ounces of hot water (not boiling as this will ruin the flavor of the matcha)

  • 1 cup of non-dairy milk

Directions:

  1. Measure matcha powder into a bowl, add hot water, and whisk really well with quick back and forth motions until all of the powder is completely mixed.

  2. Whisk in vanilla and maple.

  3. In a glass halfway filled with ice, pour in the milk and add the matcha mixture on top.

  4. Stir and enjoy!
